ANDERSONVILLE — Borderline Music will be moving from its current location this summer, but hopes to stay in the neighborhood, the store's owners say.

The owners of the new and used CD and record store at 5351 N. Clark St. announced its lease its will end at the end of July and its landlords will not be renewing its lease, according to a Facebook post.

"We are currently looking for a new location and want to stay here in Andersonville where this location and neighborhood have proven very successful. Business is better than it has been in ten-plus years and we want to continue operations in Andersonville and be the neighborhood destination for all your music needs," the post said.

Borderline bills itself as "Chicago's first and only dance record store," specializing in dance, imports, remixes and DJ compilations. It opened in August 2000.

The owners were not immediately available for comment.

It spent 13 years in Lakeview before moving to its Andersonville location three years ago, according to the Facebook post.

The shop known for its extensive Madonna record collection was located in Andersonville to follow the migration of the city's gay population, according to owner Scott Jannush.

"I was always known as Boystown's record store," Jannush said in 2013. "The target was the gay community. The gay community is no longer on this strip of Broadway."
