WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A group of robbers are prowling Ashland Avenue in Washington Heights, looking for lone women, whom they punch and steal their cell phones, according to Chicago police.

Police in the Morgan Park District issued an alert claiming a group of two to three teenagers have been approaching women between the 8700-9500 blocks of south Ashland Avenue. Specifically, the robberies occurred at:

• 1:23 p.m. June 9 in the 9100 block of south Ashland Avenue

• 12:30 a.m. June 13 in the 1600 block of west 95th Street

• 1 p.m. June 13 in the 8700 block of south Ashland Avenue

Police encourage individuals to walk in groups, particularly those unfamiliar with the neighborhood. Anyone with more information about these robberies is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
