CHICAGO — A 24-year-old man was shot to death in North Lawndale on Sunday, officials said.
At 5:07 a.m., the man was standing in the street in the 1400 block of South Avers Avenue when someone in a white car fired shots at him, police said.
The man was hit in his abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Dontae Thomas, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 7:05 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
No one was in custody.
