CHICAGO — Members of the burgeoning Northwest Side GOP Club will hold an outdoor block party Wednesday evening in honor of Flag Day and President Donald Trump's birthday, the group announced.

Starting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, the group will fill the parking lot of Revel Bar Chicago, 6169 N. Northwest Hwy., offering free appetizers and a cash bar.

The band Todd and the Ten Pins will perform at the event, the group announced.

The evening will include a raffle and silent auction to raise money for the group — an incorporated political party committee — including prizes like Cubs tickets and a weeklong condo stay in Marco Island, Fla.

The event is being held to celebrate Flag Day, which club president and 39th Ward Republican Committeeman Matt Podgorski called "an often overlooked American Holiday, and "to support our president on his birthday."

"Whether you like Trump or not, he is everyone's president," Podgorski said.

Entrance to the event is free for Northwest Side GOP Club members, $10 for visitors and "$20 for snowflakes," Podgorski joked.

Formed just before Election Day last year, the Northwest Side GOP Club has positioned itself as a new force for grassroots organizing with eyes on both local and statewide races. It's also rallied neighbors against a proposal to build mixed-income apartments in Jefferson Park, zeroing in on Ald. John Arena (45th) as an early target.

The group has raised more than $10,000, including a $2,000 donation from conservative talk show host Dan Proft's Liberty Principles PAC.

Earlier this year, progressive groups protested a GOP Club fundraiser featuring talk show host and former congressman Joe Walsh.
