CHICAGO — Nine people were shot in North Lawndale early Sunday, police said.
A 3:14 a.m., the people were in the 3300 block of West Douglas Boulevard when a black car drove up and someone inside fired shots at the victims, police said.
Two of the victims were taken to the hospital by paramedics, a Chicago Fire spokesman said, while the rest took themselves to Mount Sinai Hospital.
The victims included:
• A 35-year-old man who was hit in his leg and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in "stable" condition
• A 17-year-old shot in his hand who was in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
• A 29-year-old man shot in his hip and listed in "stable" condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
• A 23-year-old man hit in his back and listed in "stable" condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
• A 17-year-old hit in his buttocks and listed in "stable" condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
• A 30-year-old man hit in his lower leg and listed in "stable" condition at Mount Sinai Hospital
• A 22-year-old man hit in his ankle and listed in "stable" condition at Stroger Hospital
• A 33-year-old woman hit in her leg and listed in "stable" condition at Stroger Hospital
• A 26-year-old man hit in his leg and listed in "stable" condition at Rush Oak Park Hospital
Several of the victims were documented gang members, a police source said, and the incident appeared to be gang-related.
No one was in custody.
The shooting is the second-most violent of the year. In early May, two people were killed and eight wounded in a single shooting in Brighton Park.
