CHICAGO — An officer was injured when he tried to pull over a driver in Auburn Gresham on Saturday night, police said.

At 8:35 p.m., officers stopped a minivan for traffic violations in the 200 block of West 76th Street, but the driver refused to get out of his car as officers walked up to him, police said. The man drove off, pinning an officer between the passenger side door and car, police said.

The officer was dragged to the 7600 block of South Eggleston Avenue, where the driver hit a pole, police said.

The officer was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver was taken into custody and a weapon was found, police said.
