DOWNTOWN — The city's beaches could be unsafe for swimmers early this week, officials warned.
The National Weather Service has said there will be "life-threatening waves and currents" at Lake Michigan beaches. Waves could get 4- to 6- feet tall, according to a report posted Tuesday morning.
Beach-goers should check with the city to see if any beaches are closed or have a swim advisory, according to the National Weather Service. As of 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, there were swim advisories in place at 63rd Street Beach, Calumet Beach, Montrose Beach and North Avenue Beach.
The warning came as police are searching for a woman who went into the water at Montrose Beach and disappeared Sunday.
