CHICAGO — Chasity Johnson, 18, was shot to death and a 17-year-old critically wounded in Avalon Park on Thursday, officials said.
At 2:30 p.m., the two were walking in the 8100 block of South Kimbark Avenue when two people walked up to them and fired shots, police said. The victims heard shots and felt pain.
The woman was hit in her chest and taken to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Johnson, of the 7900 block of South Drexel Boulevard, was pronounced dead at 3:28 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
The teen was hit in his back and his leg and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.
The victims were documented gang members, a police source said.
No one was in custody.
