CHICAGO — Two Chicago-based firms have been picked to revamp the Pullman National Monument Visitor Center.

The Visitor Center will be on the first floor of the Administration Clock Tower Building, the "heart of the Pullman factory and town," according to a Chicago Neighborhoods Initiatives news release. Bauer Latoza Studio will make the blueprint for the center while Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture will craft the center's site.

“The [National Park Service] and the National Park Foundation, the project funder, are thrilled to be moving forward with plans for the adaptive reuse of the historic Clock Tower Building,” said Kathleen Schneider, the Superintendent of Pullman National Monument, in the news release. “The Visitor Center ... will become the heartbeat of the community and primary entry point for many of our Pullman visitors."

Bauer Latoza Studio has worked on major projects throughout Chicago, helping design updates to the Morton Arboretum, restore the Museum of Science and Industry and design a large update to the Downtown Hyatt Regency.

Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture designed Trump Tower and also worked on Millennium Park and The Yard at the Shakespeare Theater at Navy Pier.

The 203-acre Pullman National Monument was established in February 2015, and the Visitor Center will serve as a spot where visitors can be introduced to Pullman's stories before exploring the area.
