Driver In Norwood Park Tried To Lure Girl, 6, With Candy: Police

By Alex Nitkin | May 22, 2017 11:04am

CHICAGO — Police are asking Norwood Park residents to look out for a man who tried to lure a 6-year-old girl into his van in the area Sunday evening, according to an alert issued Sunday.

At 5:20 p.m., the girl was running with her brother in the 5400 block of North Neenah Avenue when a silver four-door sedan pulled up next to her, police said.

A man inside the car said, "Are you OK? Do you want some candy? Come to the car and get in," according to police.

The man then noticed the girl's brother, and he drove away eastbound, police said. The girl and her brother then went home and told their mother, who called 911.

Police described the suspect as a bald white man in his 50s with gray hair on the sides of his head. He was seen wearing prescription eyeglasses and a gray T-shirt, and he was driving a silver Nissan sedan.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8200.
