CHICAGO — A Chicago Police SWAT situation ended peacefully Thursday morning after briefly shutting down traffic at the intersection of Addison Street and Oak Park Avenue, police said.
Around 6 a.m., officers responded to an anonymous call of a robbery occurring in the 6800 block of Addison, according to police. When officers arrived, they found the building locked and "had no way of verifying" whether a robbery was occurring inside, police said.
A SWAT team was called to the scene, and "after negotiations," the building was evacuated and authorities concluded that there had not been a "bona fide robbery," police said.
