CHICAGO — A man was shot and critically wounded while in the Ericson Elementary School parking lot in Garfield park late Tuesday, police said.
At 10:42 p.m., the man, 34, was standing in the parking lot of the school in the 3600 block of West Fifth Avenue when a man walked up to him and fired shots, police said. The victim was hit in his abdomen and left thigh.
The man's girlfriend drove him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition, police said.
The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
The shooter got into a dark-colored SUV and drove away, police said. No one was in custody.
