Men Snatched Women's Purses In Jeff Park, Portage Park, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two strong-arm robberies have been reported in the Portage Park and Jefferson Park neighborhoods since May 9, according to  police.

In each incident, one or two men approached a woman from behind in the street and grabbed her purse before running away, police said.

The first robbery was reported at 11:20 p.m. May 9 in the 5200 block of North LaCrosse Avenue, police said.

The second incident occurred at 5:33 a.m. on May 11 in the 4800 block of West Byron Street, police said.

The suspects are described as black men in their 20s, standing between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 feet tall and weighing between 130 and 180 pounds, police said. They were seen wearing dark hooded sweatshirts with dark pants.
