Devonta Brownlee, 19, Killed In Roseland Shooting, Officials Say

CHICAGO — Devonta Brownlee, 19, was shot dead in Roseland on Sunday afternoon, officials said.

At 2:01 p.m., the man was driving in the 10600 block of South Parnell Avenue when two cars began following him, police said. People inside the cars fired shots, hitting the man in his neck.

The man crashed into multiple parked cars and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, police said.

Brownlee, of the 11500 block of South Normal Avenue, was pronounced dead at 2:58 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

The attackers drove away and no one was in custody.
