DOWNTOWN — Chicago will get a large dose of sunshine and warm weather this week, with some days landing in the upper 80s.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will see a "fair" amount of sunshine and temperatures should be "well up into the 80s," said AccuWeather meteorologist Tom Kines. But the city will be "much cooler" Friday, with temperatures falling by 30 degrees, Kines said.

There could be some breezes over the next few days, but the wind won't be damaging or out of the ordinary, Kines said. A thunderstorm is possible Monday night.

The warmest day is expected to be Tuesday, when temperatures could hit 87 degrees, Kines said. That's warmer than the 70-degree weather Chicago usually gets this time of year, but it isn't expected to be hot enough to break any records.

"Very summery-looking," Kines said of this week's forecast. "Looks like we've got the warmest weather so far this season coming up this week."

There could be a thunderstorm Thursday night, and on Friday temperatures will plunge to the 50s. There will also be wind off the lake and "a lot of cloud cover," Kines said.
