BEVERLY — Dollar Tree Inc. and the Original Rainbow Cone will soon be neighbors along Western Avenue in Beverly.
The dollar store will move May 25 to 9255 S. Western Ave. — just south of the iconic ice cream shop, said Shelley Davis, a spokeswoman for the Chesapeake, Va.-based company.
The new 10,800-square-foot store replaces a smaller store at 2315 W. 95th St. in Beverly. The old store is expected to close a couple says ahead of the new store'sopening, Davis said.
Some of the merchandise from the existing 8,000-square-foot store will move over to the new location, Davis said Wednesday.
She also said Dollar Tree is also opening a 14,700-square-foot store at 7901 S. Western Ave. in Ashburn on the same day as the new Beverly store.
Davis added that the opportunity to move to a larger footprint spurred the new Beverly store. She also said the parking lot at the new store offers an added convenience for shoppers.
The building at 9255 S. Western Ave. previously was an O'Reilly Auto Parts. An asbestos removal project on the property took place in late March, Ald. Matt O'Shea (19th) said.
