WICKER PARK — A manager of an auto parts company who bought his Powerball ticket at a Wicker Park Jewel-Osco has won $1 million, Illinois Lottery officials said on Wednesday.
Milan Jovanovic, a 40-year-old Chicago resident, was looking up the Powerball drawing numbers on a recent break at his job when he realized he won the April 26 drawing.
“I was shocked when I saw that my numbers matched the winning numbers,” Jovanovic said when he presented his Powerball ticket at the Illinois Lottery Prize Center in Chicago, according to a news release.
The winning numbers in the longshot game were 01 - 15 - 18 - 26 - 51 and the "Powerball" number was 26. The odds of winning were one in 11.6 million.
Jovanovic, who was described in a news release as a regular Powerball player, plans to buy a house with his winnings.
The ticket was bought at Jewel, 1341 N. Paulina St., in Wicker Park. The store got $10,000, or one percent of the prize amount, for selling a winning ticket.
