COOK COUNTY CRIMINAL COURTHOUSE — A 16-year-old boy accused of murdering a Roseland man during a botched robbery in December is being held in juvenile detention.
Quenten Wright, 53, was shoveling snow about 11:45 a.m. Dec. 12 when he was fatally shot in his head and both arms in the 11400 block of South King Drive. Police said the attack began as a robbery.
Prosecutors have charged a 16-year-old boy as a juvenile with first-degree murder, attempted armed robbery and unlawful use of a weapon.
The boy, whose name and booking photo are not being released due to his minor status, will be held in a juvenile detention center pending trial, a Cook County judge ruled Wednesday. The boy's next court date is May 23.
According to police, the boy was also charged with robbing at gunpoint a 52-year-old man who'd been shoveling snow in the 11300 block of South Forest Avenue about 11:40 a.m. Dec. 12 — just five minutes before the fatal attack.
