CHICAGO — Jesse Woods, 31, died after being shot multiple times Tuesday in Pill Hill, officials said.
At 10:15 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired found the man lying on the sidewalk in the 9200 block of South Chappel Avenue, police said. The man had been shot in his head and back.
Woods, of the 8200 block of South Carpenter Street, was pronounced dead at 10:30 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.
The circumstances of the shooting were unknown, police said, and no one was in custody.
