SOUTH LOOP — Another apartment tower has broken ground in the South Loop, this one rising 47 stories a block from Roosevelt Road.
The 500-unit tower is expected to open in 2019 at 1326 S. Michigan Ave., a spokeswoman for Chicago-based Murphy Development Group said. Construction formally started Thursday.
The tower is joining a bevy of other high-rises sprouting up in the South Loop, where developers are rushing for land after building out other neighborhoods Downtown.
Murphy Development's tower will include street retail and 188 parking spaces, as well as two floors of amenities for residents including a library, spa, gym and an outdoor deck with a pool and dog park.
