Portage Park, Dunning Business Burglaries Trigger Police Warning

CHICAGO — At least five businesses in Portage Park and Dunning reported being broken into late last month, according to a police alert issued Wednesday.

In each case, burglars got into a building by breaking its front window or kicking or prying open a door, police said. Once inside, they stole cash and "various other items" including cigarettes and electronics.

The burglaries were reported:

• Between 11 a.m.-4:20 p.m. April 22 in the 4900 block of West Irving Park Road

• Between 6 p.m. Thursday-7:35 a.m. Friday in the 5700 block of West Irving Park Road

• Just before 3 a.m. Thursday in the 6200 block of West Belmont Avenue

• Between 11:30 p.m.-midnight Friday in the 3600 block of North Harlem Avenue

• At 4:55 a.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue
