7 Auto Thefts, Including Wicker Carjacking At Gunpoint, Spark Police Alert

WICKER PARK — Seven cars across the city that were left unlocked and with the engines running were stolen last Friday in Lincoln Park and Downtown — and in one case, a Wicker Park woman was robbed of her Nissan at gunpoint, police say.

At 9:05 p.m. Friday, a 49-year-old woman was robbed of her 2014 Nissan in the 1300 North Bosworth Street in Wicker Park, Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman, said on Monday.

Tannehill said that the incident was the only one of the seven where the victim was present at the time their car was stolen.

Police say cars were stolen at these locations and times last Friday:

  • 800 block of North Michigan Avenue, 9:45 a.m. Friday
  • 1700 block of West Wabansia Avenue 10:20 a.m. Friday
  • 700 block of West Hubbard Street 11:19 a.m. Friday
  • 1900 block of North Lincoln Avenue, 6:45 p.m. Friday
  • 3500 block of North Clark Avenue, 2:46 p.m. Friday
  • 700 block of North Armour Street, 7:05 p.m. Friday

No one is in custody for the thefts.

Police were unable to provide a detailed description of the suspect.
