OLD TOWN — A Chicago Police SWAT team out on patrol busted a man immediately after he robbed a woman in a dark Old Town gangway, police said.

Police said Jamal Dumas, 21, robbed the 28-year-old woman at 11 p.m. Thursday on the 1800 block of North Clark — just across the street from Lincoln Park.

The Mount Prospect man threatened her with a gun, forced her into a dark gangway and robbed her, police said.

But a SWAT team "was just patrolling" the area and arrested Dumas almost immediately after the robbery was reported, police said.

Dumas, 21, was charged with armed robbery with a firearm, a felony, police said. Bail was set at $750,000, according to the Cook County State's Attorney's Office.

Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) tweeted about the incident on Friday.
