CHICAGO — Police Supt. Eddie Johnson's car was reportedly ransacked over the weekend in front of his Bridgeport home.

A door to the department-issued car was left unlocked and someone got into it and rummaged through it, according to the Sun-Times. Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told the Sun-Times that Johnson's security detail took him home on Friday, parked the car and left.

The next morning, the officers saw someone had gone through the car, though nothing was stolen, according to the Sun-Times. The car was not damaged.

The Tribune reported that other people living on the block said they, too, have had their cars ransacked. Patrols will be increased in the neighborhood, police said.

“Crimes of opportunity can happen to anyone,’’ Guglielmi told the Tribune.
