EDGEWATER — Revival Social Club is donating 25 percent of its Thursday dinner sales to help those fighting against AIDS in Chicago.
The Edgewater eatery at 1133 W. Granville Ave. is normally among a cluster of local restaurants that participate in Dining Out For Life, an annual fundraising event celebrated nationally that raises money for local AIDS organizations — in this case the AIDS Foundation of Chicago.
General Manager Allan Stoll noticed Chicago wasn't on the Dining Out For Life map for 2017 and was told by organizers the groups who normally produce the event in the city were skipping this year.
While Chicago organizers work to bring the event officially back for 2018, Stoll said Revival wanted to continue its tradition of donating a portion of its sales to the AIDS Foundation. The restaurant has participated in the movement since opening in 2014.
"At a time when funding of services are at risk we felt it was more important than ever to support the organizations that provide HIV and AIDS-related services," Stoll said.
The event isn't ticketed, but patrons are encouraged to reserve a table through Revival's website.
Revival's regular dinner menu will be available, plus a drink, appetizer and entree special for the James Beard Eats Week.
Those specials include:
• War of the Roses cocktail: West Cork Irish Whiskey, Koval Rose Hip Liqueur, Vermouth Rosso, Angostura Bitters
• Bacon-wrapped dates: Chorizo stuffed and roasted with tomato basil sauce
• Cuban braised pork shoulder: Congri rice with caramelized onion, mojo sauce, black beans and fried plantains
