Group Of Men Beating And Robbing Victims in West Town, Police Warn

UKRAINIAN VILLAGE —  Groups of up to seven men have attacked and robbed victims in five separate incidents in West Town and Ukrainian Village within a four-day span, police said.

The attackers are described as two to seven young men possibly driving a black or dark-colored Chevrolet SUV, according to a community alert from police.

The robberies occurred:

• At 1:35 p.m. Thursday in the 900 block of South Bell Avenue

• At 3:10 p.m. Thursday in 900 block of North Leavitt Street

• At 2 a.m. Friday in the 900 block of North Honore Street

• At 2:15 a.m. Friday in the 2100 block of West Iowa Street

• Between 2:40 and 2:50 a.m. Sunday in the 2100 Block of West Haddon Avenue.

Anyone with information with information about the crimes is asked to call detectives at 312-747-8382.

Police offered these safety tips:

• Always be aware of your surroundings

• Report suspicious activity immediately

• If you are confronted by an assailant, remain calm

• Remember any unique physical characteristics like scars or tattoos

• Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police

• If video surveillance equipment is present, save a copy of the footage for investigating detectives

• If approached by a witness to the incident, request their contact information

• Dial 911 immediately and remain on the scene when possible
