CHICAGO — Willy Franklin, 53, was shot and killed in Grand Crossing on Monday afternoon, officials said.
At 2:24 p.m., officers were called to the 6900 block of South Dorchester Avenue for a report of a man shot and found the victim unresponsive in a building stairwell, police said.
The man had been shot in his face and chest and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Franklin, of the same block where he was shot, was pronounced dead at 3:07 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. An autopsy showed he died from multiple gunshot wounds in a homicide.
No one was in custody.
