DOWNTOWN — The Chicago Police and the Fire departments will conduct active shooter and terrorist drills Tuesday at McCormick Place's Lakeside Center — drills that will involve mock gunfire, explosions and human casualties, the neighborhood alderman said.
South Loop neighbors shouldn't be alarmed by the "hundreds" of first responders participating in the drills, which will last from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Lakeside Center, 2301 S. Prairie Ave., 3rd Ward Ald. Pat Dowell told neighbors in a Facebook post.
The Lakeside Center, open since 1971, is one of four convention halls at McCormick Place, the largest convention hall in the country.
