CHICAGO — Marcel Javon Spivey Jr., 21, was shot to death, and a 24-year-old man was wounded Sunday in Roseland, officials said.

At 1:05 p.m., the two were inside a car near West 97th Street and South Yale Avenue when someone walked up and fired shots, police said.

Spivey, of south suburban Dolton, was hit in his head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 1:23 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The 24-year-old man was hit in his groin and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where his condition was not available but he was listed as "stable," police said.

The 24-year-old man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
