BEVERLY — Children participating in Take Our Daughters And Sons To Work Day Thursday will be able to commute on Metra with their parents for free.

The commuter rail service announced it will waive fares for anyone younger than 18 who is accompanied by an adult with a ticket. Each adult can bring up to three children on the train for free.

“This day provides a unique opportunity for boys and girls to be exposed to what their parents do during the workday, and we know that for many of our riders, commuting with Metra is a part of that,” said Don Orseno, Metra's executive director and chief financial officer.

Both Metra and the those behind the of the day encourage anyone participating in the program to use the hashtag #CountOnMe in their social media posts.
