Author Kevin Coval Announced As Keynote Speaker For Alternatives Gala

CHICAGO — Local poet and educator Kevin Coval will be the keynote speaker at Alternative Inc.'s annual gala.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on April 27, the Youth Building Chicago Gala will be held at the Wintrust Grand Banking Hall at 231 S. LaSalle St.

It will include heavy hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, an auction, raffles and live art, according to a press release for the event.

Coval has performed multiple times on the television show "Def Poetry Jam," founded the nation's largest youth poetry festival "Louder Than A Bomb" and recently wrote his seventh book "A People's History of Chicago."

All proceeds from the event support Alternatives Inc. services for Chicago youth. Tickets are available here.
