CHICAGO — From Mayfair to Edison Park, Northwest Siders have more than a dozen opportunities on Saturday to spruce up their neighborhoods in time for outdoor season.
No matter where they go, volunteers should wear comfortable clothes they don't mind dirtying, and a pair of work gloves, if they own them.
Ald. Margaret Laurino (39th) will supply work tools and free snacks for projects in her ward (those in Mayfair, Forest Glen, Edgebrook and Sauganash).
Jefferson Park
• Jefferson Park Forward will lead a cleanup of the area surrounding the Jefferson Park Transit Center starting at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Sauganash
• The Sauganash Park Community Association will meet at 9:30 a.m. to clean the Sauganash Memorial Garden at the intersection of Sauganash and Lowell avenues.
• The Sauganash Park Advisory Council will lead a cleanup of Sauganash Park, 5861 N. Kostner Ave., starting at 9 a.m.
• The Queen of All Saints School track team will lead a cleanup of the Sauganash Trail, starting at 9:30 a.m. in the 4400 block of West Devon Ave.
Forest Glen
• The Forest Glen Community Club will meet at 10 a.m. for a cleanup where Catapala Avenue meets the Edens Expy.
Edgebrook
• The Neighborhood Connection Project will convene at 9 a.m. to clean the Metra underpass at the intersection of Hiawatha, Kinzua and Lehigh avenues.
• The 6000 N. Landers Ave. Block Club will get together to clean up their block at 10 a.m.
• The Edgebrook and Sauganash Chambers of Commerce will meet at 10 a.m. to clean the Edgebrook North Branch Arts Garden, 5421 W. Devon Ave.
Mayfair
• The Mayfair Park Association will lead a cleanup of Mayfair Park, 4550 W. Sunnyside Ave., starting at 10 a.m.
• The North Mayfair Association will meet at 9 a.m. to clean South Gompers Park, 4222 W. Foster Ave.
Dunning
• The Dunning Neighborhood Organization and Ald. Nicholas Sposato (38th) will host a cleanup starting at the Dunning Public Library, 7455 W. Cornelia Ave., starting at 9 a.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
Norwood Park
• The Norwood Park Chamber of Commerce will lead a cleanup and landscaping project around the Norwood Park Metra station, 6088 N. Northwest Hwy., in conjunction with Evangelista Floral & Landscape Studio and Chris' Landscaping.
• Members of the Norwood Park Senior Center will meet at 9 a.m. to clean the south side of the Metra tracks between Raven and Nagle avenues.
• The Norwood/Edison Garden Club will clean along Avondale Avenue between Harlem and Raven avenues, starting at 9 a.m.
Edison Park
• The Edison Park Chamber of Commerce will lead a cleanup at 10 a.m., beginning at the Edison Park Metra station.
• Edison Park Lutheran Church and Cub Scout Pack 3792 will meet at 9 a.m. to clean Monument Park, 6679 N. Avondale Ave.
