BEVERLY — Cork & Kerry might not have kitchen of its own, but the tavern at 10614 S. Western Ave. will bring in food trucks every Friday throughout the summer to feed hungry customers.
Food Truck Fridays begin on May 5 — otherwise known as Cinco de Mayo. Aztec Dave's Food Truck is the first scheduled vendor and will be in the beer garden from 4-7 p.m., said Bill Guide, co-owner of the tavern.
"There may be a ton of people that are foodies that follow these trucks but never experienced our beer garden," said Guide, who has owned the tavern with Mike Fitzpatrick since 2003.
Nikki Harrington, marketing manager at Cork & Kerry, said the promotion will run through Labor Day, and the food trucks will stick around until 9 p.m. as long as there's steady demand. Children are also allowed in the beer garden until 9 p.m., allowing families to sample the fare as well.
The food trucks will arrive rain or shine, and tents will be installed should the weather turn sour. Guide also said he's looking for food truck recommendations to fill the last available spots on the calendar.
He directed those with suggestions to Cork & Kerry's Facebook page. He also said Food Truck Fridays will return next year should the concept take off, and beer specials will change each month as the promotion gets underway.
"We just want to offer the neighborhood something different," he said.
