CHICAGO — Jacquetta Pearson, 22, and Marcus Triplett, 24, were shot to death in Back of the Yards on Tuesday morning, officials said.

At 8:17 a.m., the two were sitting in a car in the 5100 block of South Halsted Street when a white car pulled up, police said. Two people got out of the white car and fired shots.

The woman and man were hit and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The shooters drove away.

Pearson, of the 1900 block of Harding Avenue, and Triplett, of the 900 block of West 50th Place, were pronounced dead at 8:30 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. Autopsies showed the two died from multiple gunshot wounds in homicides.

The man was a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
