MORGAN PARK — A brawl involving nearly 100 people broke out Saturday night at a carnival in Morgan Park, forcing officials to shut it down, according to the Chicago Police Department.

A 14-year-old boy was trampled and knocked unconscious, according to multiple reports. He was hospitalized.

The carnival sets up several times a year in the 11700 block of South Marshfield Avenue — just west of Interstate 57. The rides and games are near the parking lot of the Marshfield Plaza shopping center.

The crowd dispersed as police arrived, and the carnival was shut down, "as a precautionary safety measure," said Officer Jose Estrada, a Police Department spokesman.

According to an NBC5 report, the brawl involved nearly 100 people — mostly teens — and spilled over into nearby stores. Witnesses told NBC5 and WGN that the fight erupted after a man flashed a gun.
