CHICAGO — Residents who want to reserve a free city bounce house for their summer block party can apply online starting Wednesday, officials said.

Paper applications are no longer accepted by city officials.

The brightly colored Jumping Jacks can be reserved for block parties held on Saturdays and Sundays between May 27 and Aug. 27, officials said.

City bounce houses can only be provided to residential block parties within the city limits of Chicago. Events on private property, in parks, in forest preserves, private parties, birthday parties and festivals are not eligible to apply, officials said.

Applications are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, officials said.

Renting a bounce house from a private firm typically costs between $150 and $300.

Permits for block parties are available from aldermanic offices.
