CHICAGO — The Harrison District has the most officers assigned to it in the city, according to newly released data.

The district, which covers Garfield Park, has 462 officers — or about 6.4 percent of all the officers who are assigned or detailed to police districts in Chicago. That means there are 75.7 officers per square mile in the area.

The district has seen some of Chicago's worst violence in recent years: Beat 1133 in the district had at least 59 shootings in 2016, and another beat — 1113 — had at least 46 shootings last year.

The nearby Austin and Ogden districts are also among the districts with the most officers: Austin has 350 and Ogden has 356.

The police data comes from the Office of the Inspector General, which released the information about the Chicago Police Department on Monday. The office said there are 12,051 sworn officers in the department, and 7,251 of those officers are assigned or detailed to districts while 4,800 are assigned or detailed to specialized units.

The office said it would update the number of Chicago Police personnel on a "cyclical basis."
