LINCOLN PARK — April is the cruelest month — for Chicago drivers who forget it's once again street-sweeping season and find a $60 ticket on their window to pay for a nice, clean street.
For Lincoln Park and Old Town residents, the city has put out new street-sweeping maps for the 2nd, 27th, 32nd and 43rd wards. While colorful, however, they have to be matched up with the accompanying schedules for the 2nd, 27th, 32nd and 43rd wards to make sense — and to actually know when your car is in jeopardy.
Ald. Michele Smith (43rd), however, is recommending SweepAround.Us, an internet page that will determine your next street-sweeping session from your address, and which also allows residents to enroll for email and text alerts. She tweeted about it this week.

It works citywide, so there's no excuse for anyone failing to avoid that next street sweeping. Be advised, however, for those already in the know about SweepAround.Us, with the new 2017 street-sweeping schedule the service doesn't carry the alert system over and you have to renew your subscription annually.
