CHICAGO — When Pat Trapp was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease more than two decades ago her skin became very dry from her medication.

Seeking relief, she’d buy skin care products to soothe her dry, itchy skin, she said.

But the costs began adding up and she refused to keep spending so much on products, she said. So the former educator and two-time kidney transplant recipient began experimenting with making her own bath and skin products.

“I got tired of spending lots of money for stuff, and so I started doing it for myself,” Trapp said, who lived in Englewood for 16 years before moving to Momence in Kankakee County.

Over the years, friends and family would request their own specially made products. She said people started telling her she should create her own company.

After some persuasion, Trapp launched Made With Love ‘Peau Douce’ Moisturizing Baths. She’s been in business for nine months now.

She offers moisturizing bath balls made with natural ingredients such as dead sea salt and goat’s milk, and oils like avocado oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and coconut oil. These help people with dry skin and problems like eczema, she said. She also sells her Organic Brown Sugar Scrubs and Dead Sea Salt Scrubs.

Some of the scents include: ocean breeze, fresh rain, bamboo,
lavender-lemon and fresh cotton.

She loves making giftbags for friends and family who are having bad days. That's how this started. If the business doesn't take off, she's alright with that, she said.

"I love using the products and if I can share them with someone else that’s even better, but if I can’t it’s still okay," Trapp said.

Trapp likes to bring her products to sell at special events. She can be reached at 312-523-8243 or PatTrapp55@gmail.com.
