Courtney Lewis, 20, Killed In Auburn Gresham Shooting; One Other Wounded

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was shot to death and a 19-year-old man was wounded in Auburn Gresham on Sunday, police said.

At 12:30 p.m., the two were passengers with two other people in a car in the 8200 block of South Ada Street when they heard shots, police said. They drove away but the two victims realized they had been hit so they stopped the car and called 911.

The 20-year-old man was hit twice in his back and the 19-year-old man was hit once in his back, police said. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

Courtney Lewis, 20, of the 700 block of South Paulina Street, was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office. 

The victim was a documented gang member, a police source said.

No one was in custody.
