WEST TOWN — Full moon or not, Werewolf Coffee Bar opens bright and early Monday at 1765 N. Elston Ave.

Originally imagined as a "company clubhouse" for employees of DMK Restaurants, it turned out "so cool we want to share it with everyone," according to DMK co-owner David Morton.

It opens at 7 a.m. Monday with hours weekdays until 4 p.m. The centerpiece of the "clubhouse" concept is an old Wonder Bread delivery truck that's been converted into a barista station.

Werewolf offers local coffee brews from Dark Matter and Metropolis, as well as Stumptown from Portland, Ore. In addition to hot drip coffee, there are cold brews on tap and by the can and an array of teas.

The coffee shop has also teamed up with Lincoln Park's Floriole Cafe & Bakery, which will supply a daily assortment of pastries and baked goods, along with "rotating toasts" with creative toppings.

Werewolf will also carried nostalgia-tinged items like Swedish fish and Pop-Tarts, as well as ramen noodle cups. Chef Michael Kornick will also be using the space as a “test kitchen” to try out new items destined for other DMK outlets.
