WICKER PARK — A stand-up comedy showcase that was a casualty of the Crocodile's unexpected closure has found a new home.

Stand Up Stand Up had welcomed high profile visits by Hannibal, Nick Vatterott and other comics during the five years it ran every Thursday at the Wicker Park lounge.

The showcase returns 8 p.m. Thursday at Whiskey Business, 1367 N. Milwaukee Ave. Stand Up Stand Up will be hosted by Keith Paesel and feature jokes by Danny Kallas, Liz Ziner, Shannon Knoll, Michael Robinson and Stephanie Weber.

Throughout its five-year run, Stand Up Stand Up had become a stalwart of Wicker Park's free weeknight entertainment options, according to James Webb, one of the show's founders.

"We showed up one Thursday [Jan. 14] to set up for our show, and the doors were locked," says Webb of Crocodile Lounge.

After several weeks of searching for the right fit for a new spot and eventually retrieving their equipment from the basement of the bar, Webb and co-founders Paesel and Ziner found a new venue just a few blocks south of Crocodile.

"We were thrilled to find somewhere in Wicker Park," said Paesel. "After five years we felt like we had grown with the neighborhood, and we didn't want to leave that behind."

More information regarding lineups, promotions, and weekly Thursday shows can be found at standupstandup.net or on the Stand Up Stand Up Facebook page.
