ENGLEWOOD — New technology rolled out by the Chicago Police Department to help officers get to crime scenes more quickly helped police make an arrest last week, officials said.

A 17-year-old male was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon Friday. Police in the Englewood district used ShotSpotter technology to detect the fired shots in the 6700 block of South Wolcott Avenue at 6:52 p.m., policed officials said.

District beat officers were sent to the scene, where they were able to get a description of a suspect. The teen was arrested in the 6800 block of South Wood Street, and a weapon was recovered, police said.

No one was injured in the shooting, police said.
