Riis Park Running Track, Tennis Courts Getting Facelift In 2018

CHICAGO — Riis Park, 6100 W. Fullerton Ave., will get an improved running track and renovated tennis courts by summer 2018, officials announced Saturday.

The current cinder track will be resurfaced with asphalt, and the park's 10 tennis courts will be see a "rehabilitation," according to the announcement.

On top of hosting summer camp programs, the courts are home to Special Olympics tennis matches for more than 200 athletes.

“The Riis Park Striders, Special Olympic Tennis athletes and members of the community will make great use of the updated facilities," Ald. Ariel Reboyras (30th) said.

Construction is likely to start by the end of the year, officials said.
