CHICAGO — A West Side man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly running over a police officer's foot while fleeing a traffic stop, police said.

About 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police said officers spotted Kerry Holoman, 22, making a traffic violation in the 4400 block of West Lexington Avenue and pulled him over around the corner. Holoman allegedly refused to show officers his driver's license or insurance information, and attempted to get away form the officers by driving on the sidewalk, where he ran over an officer's left foot, police said.

He kept driving, police said, and they chased him westbound on the Eisenhower Expy. until he crashed into a light pole near the 16th Avenue exit.

He then ditched his car and ran until officers caught up with him in the 1500 block of Harrison Street in suburban Maywood, police said. Police said they found a loaded gun on him when they made the arrest.

Holoman, of the 1700 block of North Meade Avenue in Austin, was arrested and charged with unlawful use of a weapon, possessing a firearm as a felon, aggravated fleeing, disregarding traffic control devices, aggravated battery of a peace officer, criminal damage to government property, unlawful damage to highway, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance, open alcohol in a vehicle and a slew of other traffic violations.

The officer was treated for his injured foot and released from a local hospital. Holoman was taken to a hospital due to the crash but refused medical treatment.
