One-Man Crime Spree Stuck Up 15 Liquor And Grocery Stores, Feds Say

CHICAGO — A Logan Square man previously charged in a string of armed robberies on the West Side has been indicted by a federal grand jury on 31 gun and robbery charges, the FBI announced Tuesday.

Angelo Stanton, 27, has been held without bail in Cook County Jail since Oct. 13, when he was charged in four Chicago armed robberies. FBI agents at the time said Stanton could be linked to as many as 16 robberies.

On Tuesday, the FBI revealed a 31-count indictment that places Stanton at the scene of 15 armed robberies spanning multiple neighborhoods, including Logan Square, Back of the Yards, Brighton Park, Humboldt Park, Gage Park and Hermosa.

Federal prosecutors have charged Stanton with stealing cash at gunpoint in the following cases:

• Aug. 23 at Castillos Supermarket, 2732 W. 59th St.

• Aug. 26 at Danny's Liquors, 2222 N. Western Ave.

• Aug. 30 at One Stop Western Market, 3456 S. Western Ave.

• Sept. 3 at Granados Liquors, 1859 W. 47th St.

• Sept. 8 at Buchanas Food & Liquor, 1834 W. 47th St.

• Sept. 13 at El Yunque Liquor Store, 1900 N. California Ave.

• Sept. 20 at West Town Wine & Spirits, 2501 W. North Ave.

• Sept. 21 at Park Dollar and Food Store, 1101 N. California Ave.

• Sept. 22 at Albany Food & Liquors, 3048 W. Fullerton Ave.

• Sept. 25 at Manha, 3751 W. Armitage Ave.

• Sept. 30 at Don's Grill, 1837 S. Western Ave.

• Oct. 2 at One Stop Market, 3456 S. Western Ave.

• Oct. 4 at Humboldt Haus, 2958 W. North Ave.

• Oct. 9 at Bucktown Food & Liquor, 2422 W. Fullerton Ave.

• Oct. 11 at Lucky One Food, 1854 N. Pulaski Rd.

According to FBI spokesman John Althen, Stanton is slated to be arraigned April 12.
