DOWNTOWN — It'll be a relatively warm, sunny weekend — which could be just what Chicago needs after a storm dropped several inches of snow on the city this week.

Rain that hits Thursday night could continue as a drizzle into Friday morning, and the day could start out cloudy, said Ricky Castro, a National Weather Service meteorologist. Skies should clear by the afternoon, though, and temperatures should hit the upper 40s.

The rest of the weekend will be dry, with temperatures on Saturday hitting the low 40s, Castro said.

Sunday is expected to be the warmest day, with temperatures topping out in the low 50s, Castro said. It could be slightly cooler Downtown and by the lake because of winds coming out of the southeast.

"Saturday would be a pretty decent day" to go out, Castro said. "And Sunday, as well. None of the days are going to be particularly bad for mid-March."

The city usually sees temperatures hitting the mid- to upper 40s this time of year, Castro said, so this weekend is close to average, though it could be slightly warmer than normal Sunday.
