CHICAGO — Police are urging residents to be cautious and lock doors after a spate of burglaries in Portage Park.
In each incident, burglars have entered residences through windows and doors, and proceeded to take laptops, electronics, jewelry and cash among other items, police said in a community alert.
The burglaries happened:
• Between 2-9 p.m. Feb. 26 in the 3200 block of North Lockwood Avenue
• Between 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. March 1 in the 3300 block of North Lockwood Avenue
• About 1:30 p.m. March 1 in the 5200 block of West Roscoe Street
• Between 5 p.m.-7:30 a.m. March 10-13 in the 5200 block of West Warwick Avenue.
Police are asking residents to make sure doors and windows are locked, pay special attention to suspicious people loitering in the neighborhood, and warn friends and relatives about the burglary trend.
