CHICAGO — A 5-year-old boy was critically injured after being hit by a pickup truck in McKinley Park Wednesday morning, police said.

At 8:08 a.m., a Chevy pickup truck driver was turning from 37th Street onto Ashland Avenue when he hit the boy and a 24-year-old man who were crossing the street, police said.

The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said, and the man had minor injuries but refused treatment.

The driver, 41, stayed at the scene. Police are investigating.

No further information was immediately available.
