CHICAGO — A woman was forced into the trunk of her car in Lakeview by a man who stole the car and drove it around the city for more than an hour, police said.

At 8:20 p.m. Thursday, the 24-year-old woman was in the backyard of an apartment building in the 3700 block of North Fremont Street when a man with a weapon forced her into the trunk of her car, police said.

The man drove to several spots on the South Side, and at 9:55 p.m. hit a tree in the 11500 block of South Throop Street, police said. The man got out of the car and ran away, and the woman was able to escape from the trunk and call police.

The woman was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center with minor injuries, police said.

The man is black, in his 30s, sports a goatee, weighs about 200 pounds and stands 5-foot-10, police said. He was wearing tan khakis and a red sweatshirt.
